Just another day

The weather was miserable today and my jeans were soaked when I got back home and the newspaper got wet to as it dropped on the floor from under my coat.

Day started with making more progress with Mills Quilt which was started in Oct 2006 when I was doing a patchwork course. I finished one quilt and there were another two weeks left of the course. The course started again but I wanted to sew dolls clothes to sell on Ebay at the time so I didn't bother re-newing and the course didn't run again due to the numbers not been enough. So consequently the quilt came to a halt and was put in a corner of my room and only little work was done in the meantime as Mills asked occasionally about her quilt. So I decided that I would make a determined effort to finish it before the end of May. She is very happy with the design and is looking forward to putting it in her room.

Customer Alteration - shorted shirt sleeves ready for collection Friday.

Shopping at Bluewater Mills wanted to look at mobile phones while there we went in the Apple shop, hubby looking for speakers I was playing with the ipod and took a liking to it and hubby offered to buy it for my birthday but said a laptop might be a better option but its my choice. Went and took a look in John Lewis. Mills looked at all the mobile phone shops and is now thinking about which phone she wants.

My ring arrived today (hubby's arrived yesterday) that hubby ordered for our birthday but not happy with either of the designs as they were matching Together Forever design rings but did not look like the brochure showed at all so are sending them back. (The rings were tapered and in the brochure they looked like bands, the engraved names were hardly noticeable very difficult to read....oly one name engraved not two)...Hubby ordered me a new laptop instead. So now I'm really looking forward to that arriving but I hope not to get to frustrated with it as I don't take to well to new technology but I do like the design and it looks really great. So I took a look in John Lewis and liked one but they didn't have it in stock and neither did Currys so he ordered it on the web. (Which was a lot better as he saved about £100 too!! so the shops did us a favour although at the time I was disappointed as we are when some thing is out of stock!)

Customer coming at 10:30 as I am now taking on work as hubby is making a very good recovery, its good the only thing is he starts back to work on Tuesday which is good in one way but I shall miss him especially at lunchtimes, but look forward to getting back to some sort of routine. I love creating a tasty meal and delicious dessert ready for him when I pick him up from the station.

Bex has a practice 10k walk in preparation for her Duke of Edinburgh award. She had a great time and loved telling us about the cows chasing them ... she got washed and changed ready to go out with her friends ....cinema evening.

Worked in the garden, for a little while weeding and making notes of the changes we want to do to create our garden and make it magical. Fairies moved, Lights, plants etc.....

Sewing room a little more tiding, finished a few more dolls clothes but still a long way to go and I do hope by the end of the year my room has some sort of organization that means buying NO more fabric (and WOOL -since I learned to knit) for the rest of the year, NOW that will be hard for me to resist but I will keep my blog updated with this issue!!!
Mills quilt must be finished (started 2006)
Beautiful fabric I brought in Singapore made up into an outfit.
Create some of my new ideas - to sell at Christmas craft fair and also put them on my shop
These will certainly help to clear some of the fabric.

Just another day

The usual catch up with the washing as the weather forecast was good today!! So at the end of the day all the laundry was competed along with just the normal daily chores.
Not much to report today, just wish there were more hours in the day to fit in all the things I wish to do, my days are never long enough!!!

I'm Employable even after 15 years!

I received a phone call today about a job that I enquired about on Tuesday at Bluewater. He phoned asked if I was still interested I replied well it depended on the hours and pay. He required someone to work Mon-Fri 10am - 3 pm and the pay was £7.50 per hour. I said I will think about it and ring back tomorrow but I don't think I will take the job as
Firstly I think it will be to stressful and
Secondly if I put my mind to it I could create lots of items to sell at Christmas time either at a craft fair or on Ebay and I will earn far more than £37.50 a day.
Not only will I get more pleasure creating my own items but if I take on the job it will restrict what else I can do and I do like my free time most of the time.
The BEST thing though that came out of this was that I had the confident to walk in and ask about the job and most of all I MUST have sold myself well as he offered me the job!

Hubby, Mills and I went and visited my brother in hospital as he has just had an operation he was supposed to be coming home today but has unfortunately picked up an infection so has to stay in longer I do hope they sort it out quickly for him as there are no TV in his ward and also such a long way for his wife to travel to visit and the visiting hours are not brilliant and also costs a lot to park too if you can GET parked up as it was so busy when we went we were just lucky to find a space!! He looks fairly well in himself although does have pains in his shoulders.

Did some knitting today, I'm trying to follow a pattern to knit a dolls cardigan, it seems to be going well at the moment. I'm very tempted with treating myself to set a set of Signature needles and got as far as the ordering page to find out the shipping costs $15 and while the pound is strong I'm very tempted indeed to order them.

Just another Day

Dolls clothes putting finishing touches to the ones have already made up trying to get some organization in my room, I don't think that will ever happen though I'm alwasy on to new projects AND I can never resist a bargain!!

New bin delivered and it looks great in my kitchen

Went to Spec Savers for hubby to have an eye test but we had to book an appointment so we looked at the frames while we were there.

Knitting - the teddy my girls brought me for my birthday.

Hubby's recovering well from his illness, he has made excellent progress just slowly than he was which isn't that bad. The thing he finds the hardest is standing still. And also bending down, he needs to do hamstring exercises and these will help but otherwise he is back to his old self.

Journey to Cherstey

Fast track bus to station, and then caught the 10:05 train to Waterloo East to cross to the main line Waterloo to catch the train to Chertsey changing at Waybridge. A long journey time but enjoyed well I suppose it would be as we were not traveling in rush hour!!!. Grabbed a coffee to enjoy on the train at Waterloo.

When we arrived at Chersey we enjoyed a Subway meal deal before hubby went to the office and myself what else but shopping, hubby warned me that its nothing to write home about but told me a few shops especially the Wool.... which he popped in but didn't think much of it but take a look. I enjoyed my 45 minutes shopping and could of spent more time as I didn't have time to actually enjoy the scenery and town itself wondering around but as hubby always says "it gives an excuse to go back!! " Well it was very nice but would I want to go back??? Well meeting hubby after work OF Course it is!!! These are just a few of the shops the first would be great if only hubby had hair, the second is great for the Friday fairy and the third fantastic for a part time job for me hubby could go to his work and I could go to mine, well perhaps NOT I like been a lady a leisure!

I brought some knitting patterns was very tempted with buying some wool but DID actually managed to resist.

Brought a book journal from a charity shop. I love go in charity shops you never know what items you may find to add to your treasure as what is one mans junk is some else's treasure and I love looking for vintage items especially sewing and knitting related items.

Saturday

Argos new clock, The times for hubby, Lottery ticket changed two of my numbers 35 to 38 and 40 to 42 ( although it was supposed to be 43 but I never alter my ticket once I have marked my numbers and tonights numbers included 38 and 42 but thats all!

Had a lovely Chicken dinner at mums and also cherry or apple pie and lovely cakes in the afternoon.

I asked mum to pick me up a mini first aid kit that she managed to get from poundland as Bex needs one so she gave me her one and said she will get another so I put the money on the shelf as she would not take it from me. Nearly finished getting all the bits and bobs required but still a few items to get. Waterproof trousers and plate cup and cutlery.

I took the Boot fair to mum - our old tv from the bedroom it worked all expect the remote , old visual basic 6 books, wooden storage drawers (which was Bex old pencils, pens ect box), woven bag, tv/video bracket...having a good Spring Clean out so have warned mum and dad . Dad loves collecting my old junk... once we put out two old stools and he asked he he could take them, he loves fixing things although I think they are still in his shed but often these things come in useful later on and its often always the way you just throw something out and you find the item would have been useful for fixing an item!!!

More Spring Cleaning

Bedroom - mine this time I started spring cleaning. Hubby finished the work on putting the tv up - ie tacking all the wires to the wall.

Pre-ordered wii fit toady and I'm so looking forward to having so much fun and hopefully it will also encourage me to lose those few extra pounds that I need to lose to make my dress fit me so perfectly.

NO sewing was done today .....and I must get back into the knitting as I found it so relaxing but hopefully the house will be fully spring cleaned by the end of April then I shall really get into all the projects I wish to do. Although I will have to start prepping the bathroom as the bathroom suite we ordered is been delivered the end of May and my brother is fitting it for us the beginning of June )Oh my bathroom will look very swish as he is an excellent plumber. BUT I hope to fit a least a little craft work in each day from May!

Looking after hubby the past 6 weeks not much craft work has got done especially the 4 weeks he was in hospital it was emotionally draining at first until he started making progress then it was just tiring looking after hubby spending as much time with him as poss and also looking after out two girls as well as all the housework. Hubby made excellent progress in hospital and surprised the doctors, nurses and consultant that he did not have to go to rehabilitation as first expected and came straight from the hospital to home and the doctor signed him off work for 4 weeks and NOW he is hoping to go back to work the beginning of May.

So the beginning of our year did not have a good start as such but hubby made a quicker recovery than expected so we mustn't grumble. The year hopefully will now just flourish.

Spring Cleaning

Mills bedroom- she has been very busy the past three days tidying and bringing down lots of rubbish, items to be stored for memories up the loft and clothes for recycling that no longer fit. But when I looked in her room today it STILL looked like a bomb had gone off so I got in there and helped her this afternoon and I cleaned out TWO black bags af rubbish and items to be recycled. Well after about two hours this afternoon it looks much better but I am going to finish it off tomorrow as I like to take a break when Spring Cleaning as it helps because when I go back second time I look at it in a different light and Mills has also made it into her room again. So tomorrow it mainly will be touching up the paint work and finalisng the design.

After the TV had been delivery late afternoon we nipped down to Wickes to pick up some fixtures and fitting along with some fence fixing brackets and paints rollers ready to use tomorrow. When we got back hubby put the TV up in the bedroom.

Gardening - hubby mowed the lawn today and Mills and I did some weeding on the path. We also cleared out all the bags that were in the garden into the bin. The garden is starting to look better ready for the summer but still a lot of work to do yet. I must make lists of the all the jobs to do in the garden as I must this year- stain the fence and the summer house as it didn't get done last year we brought all the items but for one reason or another didn't get round to the painting side.

Customer collection today. I did some of my own alterations shorten 3/4 trousers so they are 3/4 on ME! Sew buttons on a pair of trousers to make them more individual and sew motif and button on other pair. Also did some finishing off on dolls clothes.

Lazy tea tonight as I forgot to get the meatballs out of the freezer until ate afternoon and the girls - chose chips! Well at least I was able to get more Spring Cleaning done

I atarted my exercise regime tonight so I'm hoping to keep it up as I wish to lose at least 1/2 stone or most all all tone up so my clothes fit a little nicer! Tues and Thurs - cross trainer. Mon , Wed and Fri, - Yoga .

Our Birthday

I'm 35 et again but my girls are not falling for it any more and even wrote in my card your not 35 , 36 or even........ And hubby never trys deny his age although he did age himself while in hospital as I filled out a survey for him and he was trying to tell me he was ?? and I thought no thats more than 5 years as he is 5 years older than me but he was trying to insist until I convinced him!! Well I do forgive him as he was in a ward with all old men and few had lost their marbles and I think hubby was losing his too!!!!! Thankfully he has returned to normal now he's back home.

Received some really lovely cards and presents and a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Lynne and Keith
In the evening we went for a meal at Santa Fe

The flowers that I delayed as hubby was in hospital that I thought were coming today didn't arrive when I phoned the florist she very kindly phoned me back and I explained the circumstances and she found the order and said they are down for Friday but offered to have them delivered tomorrow but I said I will look forward to receiving them on Friday. A very good florist I would recommend very highly as I can not fault their customer service!! And the arrangements are always nice to!

I did alteration work shorten trousers and fix a fastening and trousers that came in yesterday, so I'm all up to date with my work. This was while hubby was working for his company.

Did all the ironing about one hours worth while hubby was did his morning work for the company.

Housework never stops!!!

Today the car was been collected for its service so we couldn't go out today and had to be up by 8am in case he came early to collect the car. I got up and got hubby to put the bins out only to realize that it was Tues NOT Wednesday like I thought. Well hubby thought it was strange at the time as nobody else had their bins out but obliviously he is as mad as me!!!

So today I caught up with all the washing and ironing that I had. And gave my cooker a spring clean and carried on the de-junking.

Alteration work tapering customer trouser which had a side zip but all went well so ready for collection Thursday. Customer collection £18.00 ( 3 trousers shortening). I also had a customer bring me a pair of trousers for shortening this evening and another pair to fix the fastening- collecting Monday 6pm.

The girls baked a cake for our birthday which was really tasty. Took Mills to Asda to get candles and also a small box of chocs for the physiotherapist as hubby has a session tomorrow on our birthday. I cooked Chicken pie with veg and wedges today and everyone enjoyed it.

Just a Day

The day started with ironing than taking hubby to doctors at 10:50 where he was running late as usual, then off to town to get our birthday cards from Card Factory as Clinton Cards is just a Rip Off merchant!!! Back home hubby carries on working from home to finis off the work he started and answer a few emails.

We then head off to Bluewater to let the girls go birthday shopping while hubby and I enjoy a coffee. Just before we enjoy our coffee Boots shopping first as prescription to pick up and I needed some more facial products and while Boots as it on 3 for 2 I thought its best pick it up now and I had a bargain too as I also had a voucher for a free product if I spent £15.00 which the till would not let it go through but the sales lady put it in my bag anyway, I think the till wasn't letting it through as it was already a promotion anyway and normally two promotions can not be used together I think. Finished off meeting up with the girls then visiting Hotel Chocolat as hubby wanted some chocolate so brought him some for his birthday. Mills picked up some chocolate batons and myself Smudge well can't resit can you in such a fabulous chocolate shop and I get 5% discount as I am a member of the chocolate club - hubby treats me to a box each month

Shopping - Food Started at Asda and amazingly I nearly stuck to only items on my list ( extras not on te list were on;y 5 items and they were packed lunch items hat I forgot! So not to bad really £48.49 spent at Asda as I'm running down my cupboards as I like to that that every so often and also helps wit budgeting too!!!
Off to Waitrose to finis off my shopping as I like to lemon juice and other items tat I can not get at Asda so £9.11 spent hae the only extra was Mills crisps (£1.49). Mills guessed the correct amount here, where as I guessed it correct at Asda but Mills wasn't far off as she said £51.

Watched Lovesoup that we recorded and cleared some of the magazines w=ready to recycle ripped out pages of items I wish to buy and articles that I want to read.

Really easy tea - Pizza as I want to use up the convenience foods that I brought in while hubby was on hospital.

Mills is doing an excellent job with Spring cleaning her room she wants a stool from Ikea and its a challenge set for her to earn it and she has certainly taken on the challenge!!

So not an exciting day but a productive one anyway.

Tutankhamun

Oh dear we arrived at the exhibition and didn't realize the tickets were for tomorrow BUT thats nothing new to us as we often make mistakes like this, we MUST get into the habit of double and triple checking!!! Well never mind they still let us in which was lucky for us.

Hubby's first day out since coming out of hospital. He is progressing well. I pushed him around in a wheelchair as it would have been far to much for him walking.

We went for a meal afterwards at Frankie and Benny's.
We all enjoyed the day

Mills brought this with her money and she really enjoyed doing it and is looking froward to painting them.

Bex brought a teddy and so did I another one
to add to my collection!!!

Not so Lazy Sunday!

April and I look at of the window SNOW!!!

Started the day by tidying.

I then got on with making the alterations on the dress I brought as it needed taking up at the neck edge and on the sides as I needed a size 14 for my hips but not my bust so it now fits me perfectly, it took me a long time to do as I kept trying it on as I wanted a perfect fit ...... 4 hours later with a lunch break completed! So its all ready for my special day/ evening.

Hubby has had terrible chest pains - muscle ache the past two days so he has been resting as we want to go out early next week for a nice day out. He has made excellent progress the physiotherapist on Friday said he should be able to move around the house with no sticks!!

Hubby is Recovering Well

Today was an extremely busy morning with cleaning and cooking tonights meal - shepherds pie and shopping to do as I forgot the drinks so Asda trip to do as well. Bex wasn't feeling to good this morning but she still went into school as she wanted to collect her report, so after dropping Bex at school went onto Asda will Mills to get the drinks, she loves doing the self check-out. Due to running late with so much to do this morning dropped Mills at school via car. At 9:00 arrived at the hospital just about to wash hubbys back as the phone rang.....Bex school to collect her as she wasn't feeling any better so I leave the hospital and 1/2 later arrive to pick her up, parking was the problem!!!. So back home I go and settle her in and off I go to collect my fairy doll that has been on show since January, I'm so pleased to have her back again.

Arrived back at the hospital at noon and hubby tells me about his physiotherapy session Susie had him balancing on a ball and various other items and walking by himself, he is doing so well is is progressing every day. So much so that the doctors came round today and said he can be discharged tomorrow, wow we were both so happy, brilliant news, I've missed him so much its been 5 weeks since he has been home.
